About the Journal

✅ PARAGUAYAN STUDIES JOURNAL

The Journal of  Paraguayan Studies (RESPY), with print ISSN: 0251-2483 and digital ISSN: 2520-9914, is an indexed, open access, scientific, peer-reviewed publication that employs a "double-blind" peer review system. It is published semiannually: in June (publication period for the first semester) and December (publication period for the second semester) of each year. Since December 2021, it has adopted the open license: CC BY-NC.

Its first edition dates back to 1973 and is currently under the auspices of the Center for Anthropological Studies at the Catholic University "Our Lady of the Assumption" (CEADUC). Starting from Volume 38, Issues 1 and 2 - Year 2020, it is available in digital-web format through OJS. Previous editions can be found on Academia.edu profiles or in the Google Drive of the Journal.

With over 50 years of activity, the Paraguayan Studies Journal has become one of the most important and prestigious platforms for social scientific research related to studies about Paraguay.

✅ MISSION

The primary mission of the Paraguayan Studies Journal is to publish the results of national and international scientific research conducted in the social sciences and humanities fields with Paraguay as the subject of study, in order to contribute to the country's scientific progress.

To be the national and international reference for scientific publications in the social sciences and humanities fields focused on Paraguay, with high standards of scientific quality and methodological rigor.


✅ OBJECTIVES

The objective of the Paraguayan Studies Journal is to disseminate scientific knowledge through the original results of scientific research, which contribute to the development of the social sciences and humanities in Paraguay. This includes research papers, products of scientific research, and theoretical reflections that, due to their relevance, deserve to be published, thereby contributing to showcasing intellectual production related to Paraguay and its social and humanistic issues.


✅ SCOPE

The Paraguayan Studies Journal accepts only "original scientific articles" on topics related to philosophy, sociology, history, education, politics, economics, anthropology, art, and other related subjects, aimed at researchers, educators, and students in the social sciences focusing on Paraguay.

An "original scientific article" is understood as primary research papers that disseminate research findings, or case studies, or literature reviews describing the findings of a particular study. They must adhere to the editorial guidelines specified by the Journal.

Submissions under the categories of "Research Notes," "Reports," "Reviews," or "Exchanges" are not accepted.

Estudios Paraguayos is an open-access publication.
The license adopted by Estudios Paraguayos Journal is CC BY 4.0 (Creative Commons - Attribution 4.0 International).

The license allows:
• Sharing: copying and redistributing the material in any medium or format for any purpose, including commercial purposes.
• Adapting: remixing, transforming, and developing the material for any purpose, including commercially.
• The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the terms of the license.

Under the following terms:
• Attribution: you must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You can do this in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
• No additional restrictions: you may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
• You do not have to comply with the license for elements of the material that are in the public domain or where your use is permitted by an applicable exception or limitation.

Adopting this license by Estudios Paraguayos Journal enables immediate and free access to the works, allowing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, track them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.

Other considerations:
• No embargo period: published articles gain immediate, free, and automatic access as soon as they are uploaded to the OJS platform.
• The printed version of the journal incurs a cost stipulated by the Center for Anthropological Studies of the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción Catholic University.
• Authors retain copyright and all publishing rights without restrictions.

The information and opinions contained in the articles are the sole responsibility of the authors and in no case will be attributable to the Catholic University, CEADUC, the Editor, or the editorial board of the journal.
In the case of publication, the author retains all rights to their research work.
The journal is published under the international Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

✅ SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION OF ARTICLES

Please refer to the editorial guidelines for formatting and subsequent submission.

The proposal will undergo three stages of evaluation:

First - Editorial: Carried out by the editor. It will generally assess whether it meets minimum criteria for quality and relevance (Response time: one month). Second - Originality: The article will undergo plagiarism detection using anti-plagiarism software. The Journal accepts up to 30% similarity. In any case, the author will receive the report (Response time: 15 days). Third - Peer Review: A double-blind review conducted by an evaluator not affiliated with the Center for Anthropological Studies (Response time: two months).

From the third stage, there will be three possible outcomes: "Accepted" (the article enters the waiting list for publication in upcoming issues), "Accepted with changes" (the article must be modified based on the reviewers' recommendations for reevaluation), and "Rejected" (the article will not be published).

Article submissions are open continuously.

FUNDING

Estudios Paraguayos Journal relies on funding from the Center for Anthropological Studies at the Catholic University. It is an initiative financed by internal funds designated by the Vice Presidency for Finance Administration of the "Nuestra Señora de la Asunción" Catholic University.


PREPRINT

Estudios Paraguayos Journal does not oppose and encourages those who have submitted their articles for evaluation to deposit their scientific manuscripts on public servers in preprint format. ✅ CODE OF ETHICS AND ANTI-PLAGIARISM PRACTICES

The Paraguayan Studies Journal, in promoting good academic practices and preventing plagiarism in its articles, has been using Plagium Premium services since 2018. All submissions, before undergoing the double-blind review process, must pass through this plagiarism detection tool.

Paraguayan Studies Journal accepts the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which promotes good practices and open access to academic production.


✅ DECLARATION AND AVAILABILITY OF PRESERVATION OF GENERATED SCIENTIFIC CONTENT

The Paraguayan Studies Journal declares and is committed to preserving the generated scientific content. All issues from 1973 to the present have been digitized. The editions are compressed on Academia.edu and are available in high quality on Google Drive. Copies can be downloaded and read freely and without charge.

Content is registered and tested for OAI-PMH interoperability.
