On the way to 50 years of Paraguayan Studies

Abstract

In November 2020, the Estudios Paraguayos Journal celebrated its 48th anniversary. Its history is long and like any undertaking with vast development on its back, it has gone through stages of high productivity and crises or weaknesses. Although it is imperative to reflect on its performance, with a critical attitude to future improvements, it is highly remarkable to have remained for so long. At present, the Estudios Paraguayos Journal is regularly registered in more than 20 national and international databases. Without fear of being mistaken, it is an indexed publication, open access, scientific, refereed, with "double blind" peer review and active generation of knowledge. It has become one of the most important and prestigious means of social scientific work related to Paraguay. Although there is still a long way to go, we are constantly working to continue improving. The challenges are great and, after each achievement, new and even more ambitious goals are set. All for the noble goal: to understand Paraguay through the dissemination of scientific studies that can transform its pressing needs and diverse realities.
