Education and the social issue in Paraguay, a complex implication from the perspective of students and school administrators

Abstract

It is a study of the link between the educational system in charge of the schooling process and the incorporation into it to the different sectors of Paraguayan society. The research gives an account of the retention capacity of the Paraguayan educational system, and the institutional management in the implementation of the national curriculum. In particular, the pedagogical approach in the management of learning and containment within the educational system for students at risk of dropping out of their study due to financial or family problems. The lack of a public policy that accompanies in an integral way is verified, because schooling, more than individual interest and the will to know for permanence within the educational system and acquisition of skills and knowledge, implies an economic cost that must be absorbed by the families of the students. This answer depends on the economic capacity of each family because the Ministry of Education is only in charge of the educational offer that, supposes the solvency of the families. In addition to teaching materials, students need adequate food, mandatory clothing required for school use, and the cost of mobility to attend school. In the underprivileged sectors of Paraguayan society, these costs constitute a serious problem for permanence within the educational system. This situation of economic precariousness puts his schooling at risk because his family does not pay the full cost of staying in school.
